Compassionate and Effective Legal Counsel After Wrongful Death
Coping with the sudden loss of a loved one is never easy. When a family member or loved one is killed due to someone else’s careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent actions, the grieving process can be even more challenging.
You might have questions that deserve answers. You might wish to seek justice. You might face financial burdens related to your personal loss.
At Hay & Knight, PLLC, we help individuals and families pursue wrongful death claims to obtain the closure and financial recovery to which they are entitled under the law. Most of our clients reside near our office in Somerset, but we are also available to handle cases statewide.
Since 1982, our lawyers have remained committed to representing only the victims of serious injuries caused by negligence and those suffering due to wrongful death caused by car wrecks, truck accidents, dangerous products, and other events.
Our founding attorney, Richard Hay, is a Certified Trial Specialist. Under his lead, we have obtained many settlements and jury verdicts in excess of one million dollars.
Wrongful Death Law in Kentucky
In the event of a death caused by the negligence or misconduct of another, Kentucky law allows the decedent’s estate to recover damages. Damages for wrongful death may be limited to burial expenses and the destruction of the decedent’s power to earn money. However, in some cases, medical bills and other losses can be recovered.
When a spouse, parent, or minor child is killed, Kentucky law allows the surviving family members to make a claim for the loss of the child’s affection and companionship. Kentucky law also allows a minor child to make a claim for the death of a parent.
We take a very personal and compassionate approach to wrongful death cases, while aggressively seeking justice for our clients. We know that after a fatal injury, surviving loved ones suffer financially, emotionally, and psychologically, and we use our extensive experience and resources to seek full and fair compensation for them.
As a family business, we keep families at the forefront as we do case work. We work very hard to understand exactly how a wrongful death affects a family unit. While no amount of compensation can make up for a life lost, we strive to secure results that ease our clients’ burdens.
We know this is a very challenging time for you, and we do not charge our clients any fees before recovering compensation for them through a wrongful death settlement or jury verdict.
